Graduate Student Appointments

The History Department offers Teaching Assistant (TA) and Graduate Part-Time Instructor (GPTI) positions to our graduate students. TA and GPTI positions are considered graduate student teaching appointments so the compensation, benefits, and responsibilities differ from that of regular employees. These positions are part of the departmental funding opportunities offered to current and new incoming graduate students. StudentsÌýmust be enrolled in or recently admitted toÌýthe Department to be eligible for one of these positions. We occasionally hire graduate stduents from outside of the History Department.Ìý

The History Department occasionally hires students to work in the department.Ìý If you are currently enrolled in classes at CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and interested in History, consider working with us and submit your application today! There is no deadline to apply. ÌýWe hire for a variety of positions, which may include department social media; front-line assistant; review, and assessment of files for secure and non-secure disposal; and other tasks as needed.   • Little or no prior experience or education required.
  • Considerable training done on-the-job.

  • Work assignments typically involve standardized duties that are of a routine and repetitive nature.
  • Work assignments may include the use of special equipment, software applications or tools per an established procedure.
  • The supervisor has responsibility for the assignment of work, the flow of work, production level, and provision of proper instructions.
  • Jobs require limited to no independent judgment, analysis, or decision-making skills.
  • Some jobs may not move beyond this level.

Student Assistant II - Intermediate/Advanced:

  • Some previous knowledge, experience or education required.
  • Specialized training done on-the-job.
  • Work is underÌý²µ±ð²Ô±ð°ù²¹±ôÌýsupervision (work objectives are set but methods of performing tasks are left up to the employee).
  • Work assignments are varied and less routine and involve a moderate degree of responsibility.
  • Work assignments may involve access to and use of sophisticated and/or confidential data systems such as PS Campus Solutions, PS Finance, PS HCM, etc. for which considerable training is required.
  • The supervisor has responsibility for the assignment of work, however there is less control exercised over the flow of work and instructions given are more general.
  • The employee is responsible for the results.
  • Jobs require moderate independent judgment, analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Some jobs may not move beyond this level.
