Weekly Speaker Series on Civil Society & Ukrainian Resilience

in partnership with  and the Department of Political Science at the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is organizing a seven-part, hybrid panel series to explore the emergence and development of Ukrainian civil society organizations (CSOs) and their role in the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine. Ukrainian CSOs have been instrumental in addressing the needs of smaller cities and regional towns and villages. In many cases, community organizations have even assumed a quasi-governmental role to implement projects or deliver services typically meant to be provided by regional governments. The panels seek to address this urgently important but overlooked issue: how civil society and aid can and will be best used to rebuild and promote resilience and rebuilding during and after Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The series will be held 8am-9am MST every Friday.  for the Zoom sessions, and check this for up to date information about speakers!

October 13: Soft Power: Russian Influence in Ukraine, the US, and the World

October 20: Civil Society in Exile: International Networks of Support

  • Featured guests: Emma C. Mateo, Petro Jacyk Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Ukrainian Studies at Columbia University, Lecturer in Sociology

October 27: Disinformation & Propaganda, and Western Perspectives

  • Featured guests:  Vadym Mis’kyi (CSO Detector Media), Lili Bivings (Kyiv Independent), and Ukrainian journalist (to be determined)

November 3: The role of Civil Society in the Future of Ukraine

  • Featured guests: Tata Kepler
