My research is currently focused on exploring the energetic landscape of H_2Ìýproduction via water-splitting upon MNC surfaces (transition metal atom coordinated by 1-4 nitrogens within a graphene defect). In particular, I am very interested in finding the electronic structure metrics which are most predictive in understanding the pathway of this mechanism. This research is done within the BEAST collaboration, where I am also given the oppurtunity to explore how the electronic structure of this surface evolves as a function of applied potential, as emulated by electronic minimization within a grand-canonical ensemble. My background is in chemistry, small molecule modeling, and a tiny bit of programing. On the methods side, I am working towards implementing analysis techniques to give molecular-type metrics from solid-state calculations. In particular, this has brought me the unique challenge of figuring out how to perform pCOHP from the Kohn-Sham wavefunctions calculated from a DFT computation with an ultra-soft psuedo-potential. Secondary to this research, I am also passionate about education in computer literacy. I am currently working on composing a lab for CHEM 1134 to teach chemical kinetics, along with exposing students to fundamental chemical simulation, and coding in Python.
