The First Year Experience Advisory Board, initiated by a charge from the provost on January 5, 2021, approved the following learning outcomes to be implemented and assessed by each unit involved in components of the First-Year Experience effective during the fall semester 2023.
The goals and outcomes have come together through recommendations from the work of the Advisory Board and the Foundations of Excellence report. These outcomes will be mapped and complementary to those enacted in the Common Curriculum.
Each learning goal has associated learning outcomes.
The First Year Experience will:

Ensure that students understand the academic standards for success at CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and familiarize them with the curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities related to their interests. In accomplishing this, students will be able to:

Demonstrate understanding of academic honesty

Demonstrate familiarity with CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus offerings and resources, such as faculty office hours, advising, tutoring and career services

Enable students to craft personal strategies to strengthen their physical and mental wellness. In accomplishing this, students will be able to:

​Identify resources available to them to support physical and mental well-being.

Convey the value of diversity in learning and community and provide opportunities to explore identity. In accomplishing this, students will be able to:

Articulate how their social position has shaped their perspective
