Peer Mentor Leaders
Throughout the academic year, participants from the summer program are paired with dedicated Peer Mentor Leaders who provide ongoing academic, social and emotional support, nurturing a strong sense of belonging. These mentors are first-generation, underrepresented students from marginalized communities, many of whom are former summer program participants themselves. Monthly check-ins are scheduled with additional meetings available to ensure personalized support. Before assuming their roles, Peer Mentor Leaders undergo comprehensive training to offer exceptional guidance and help participants feel connected to the university, which includes attending a professional development conference to enhance their skills and network with other mentors. They encourage participants to attend Bridge Scholars Program workshops on career development, academic skills, leadership and CU sports events to strengthen community ties. These leaders play a critical role in helping students navigate their journeys by creating a supportive environment where mentees feel understood and valued. Each mentee completes an annual survey to continually enhance the program, providing valuable feedback on their experiences and helping shape future mentoring efforts.
