Senior math wiz lands prestigious scholarship to study in the UK

Engineering senior Matthew Hurst has been awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship, a full-ride scholarship to study in the United Kingdom for two years. A lifelong mathematician with a dream of being an astronaut someday, Hurst is developing computer models that could someday help engineers design aircraft and spacecraft more efficiently.

Cynthia Banks didn’t have the opportunity to study abroad as a student. The summer after graduating in 1989, she helped a marketing professor take a group of undergraduates to Australia to study at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. The Colorado native launched an international education organization a year later that would eventually send 30,000 students to 27 countries and offer 150 programs worldwide.
