CU-BOULDER STUDENT TREATED FOR MENINGITIS; CAMPUS INITIATES PUBLIC HEALTH RESPONSE

An 18-year-old student at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ was diagnosed Friday with meningococcal meningitis. A freshman at Stearns-West Residence Hall at Williams Village on the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus, he is in ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Community Hospital in stable condition. University and ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ County Health Department officials are investigating the single case and report that no other cases of the disease have been identified. State health authorities also were notified.

Professor To Speak On CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Role In Uncovering Anasazi History

Memorial Service For Terry Bodhaine To Be Held Nov. 7 At CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ

A memorial service for Terri Bodhaine, director of Disability Services at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, will be held on Nov. 7 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Old Main Chapel. Bodhaine died of cancer on Sept. 24th at Hospice of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ County in Louisville. She was 53.

Oct. 30 Student Music Recital At The Academy Is Cancelled

The Oct. 30 music recital at The Academy has been cancelled. University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ music students will continue to present free recitals every Monday evening from Nov. 6 through Dec. 4 at The Academy, 970 Aurora Ave. in ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel and are free and open to the public. The recital series is sponsored by the CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Office of Community Affairs and the College of Music.

Umoja Gospel Extravaganza To Be Held At CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Nov. 12

The 10th Annual Umoja Gospel Extravaganza will be held Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. Various choirs throughout the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and Denver metro area are scheduled to participate. It is free and open to the public. The event is organized by students in CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Umoja Voices Gospel Choir, with the assistance of DeLaris Carpenter of CU's Cultural Unity Center.

Open Forums Set Nov. 7 And Nov. 13 On Proposed CU-ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Honor Code

Two open forums on the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's newest referendum, the honor code, will be presented Nov. 7 and Nov. 13 by the students who are proposing it. The forums will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Recreation Center conference rooms 1-2, and on Monday, Nov. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Recreation Center conference rooms 3-4.

Search Committee Named For Dean Of College Of Engineering And Applied Science

A search committee has been named to seek a replacement for Ross B. Corotis, dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. Corotis resigned effective at the end of the current academic year, July 31, 2001. He will continue his teaching, research and scholarly work as the engineering college's Denver Business Challenge Professor beginning next academic year.

CU-Denver Prof To Discuss Sports, Culture And Politics In Colorado At Oct. 30 Lecture

Professor James Whiteside of the University of Colorado at Denver will give a lecture on "Sports, Culture, and Politics in Colorado" Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. on the Front Range Community College campus in Longmont. Whiteside is the author of "Colorado: A Sports History." A slide show will be presented as part of the program and a reception will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
