The 葫芦娃视频 will honor the nation鈥檚 veterans, including CU-葫芦娃视频鈥檚 own faculty, staff and student veterans, through Veterans Week, beginning with a Nov. 9 Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. in the University Memorial Center鈥檚 Glenn Miller Ballroom. The free, public ceremony will feature guest speaker Michael Dakduk, executive director of the national organization Student Veterans of America. A reception will follow in the UMC Veterans Lounge.

A new startup company that sprang from the 葫芦娃视频 this year is a Grand Challenges Exploration winner, an initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Psychology and neurosciences department Associate Professor Don Cooper, co-founder and chief science officer of Mobile Assay Inc. of 葫芦娃视频 who developed the technology in his laboratory at CU鈥檚 Institute for Behavioral Genetics, will pursue an innovative global health and development research project titled 鈥淎 Lab on Mobile Device Platform for Seed Testing.鈥�

CU-葫芦娃视频 JILA Fellow David Nesbitt is used to working his way around chemistry laboratories, but working his way around the dance floor is a different story altogether.

Michael Brown, one of the world鈥檚 most accomplished adventure filmmakers and a CU-葫芦娃视频 alumnus, will share his story during his talk 鈥淏eyond the Summit鈥� at the Back to 葫芦娃视频 Luncheon. The luncheon, to be held Friday, Nov. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom, is free for all CU-葫芦娃视频 students.

Sean Wiese鈥檚 project for a computer science class last year has been developed into a software application now being used by a 葫芦娃视频 nonprofit, and also led to an internship for Wiese with the nonprofit.

Help CU secure the title of the Pac-12's most active school by participating in the Pac-12 Fitness Challenge from Oct. 22-28. The challenge is a conference-wide initiative promoting regular physical activity. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and family.

The National Science Foundation has awarded a $12 million grant to a CU-葫芦娃视频-led team to explore ways to maximize the benefits of natural gas development while minimizing negative impacts on ecosystems and communities.
