Alumni Awards Nomination

The Ann and H.J. SmeadÌýDepartment ofÌýAerospace Engineering Sciences,Ìýthrough theÌýAeroBuffs Alumni Club,Ìýhas created awards to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding alumni. Honorees are inducted into the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ AeroBuffs Club Alumni Academy. Up to nine awards in three categoriesÌýof excellence will be bestowed at the AeroBuffs Club Alumni Banquet on Friday, April 18, 2025, in ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, CO.Ìý

The CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ AeroBuffs Club Outstanding Alumni Awards highlightÌýsuperior professional achievement and service to the engineering profession in the following categories. Up to three awards are be given in each category. One honoree may be under the age of 40 and two may be over the age of 40.Ìý

  • Outstanding Alumni for Excellence in Commercial Enterprise
    Alumni bestowed with this award haveÌýdemonstratedÌýoutstanding contributions in industry.Ìý AwardeeÌýcontributions can be in any size company from start-up companies toÌýlarge corporations.Ìý
  • Outstanding Alumni for Excellence in Public Service
    Alumni bestowed with this awardÌýhave demonstrated excellence inÌýcivil service, to include contributions in NASA (HQ or Center leadership), the US Military, the Intelligence Community, and/or other government agencies.
  • Outstanding Alumni for Excellence in Technical Achievement and Leadership
    Alumni bestowed with this award have demonstrated technical and/or research excellence, or excellent leadership in the developmentÌý of technical research, in academia and/or a wide range of research labs including Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, universities, NASA Centers, AFRL, NRL, ARL, etc.

All nominees must have earned a degree (BS, BS/MS, BAM, MS, or PhD) from the Aerospace Department at the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.

Self-nominations are welcome.

The Call for Nominations for the 2025 award cycle is now open and will close November 15, 2024.

Be sure to highlight the impact of the nominee’s contributions for the award. For instance, the nominee’s impact to a company, government agency, institution, the field of aerospace, etc. Also, as applicable, please highlight the nominee’s service to the community, the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, Smead Aerospace, etc. The impact statement should not exceed 2,000 words. You may also upload a nomination letter of no more than two pages.
