Biomedical Engineering is an exciting, multidisciplinary field that lies at the intersectionÌýof medicine, biology and engineering.ÌýBiomedical engineers employ the priciples of engineering to push the frontiers of healthcare via analyticallyÌýsolvingÌýcomplex problems and innovating for the needs of a growing world. Much of the equipment in hospitals and clinics across the globe was designed, built and tested by biomedical engineers.ÌýAt the same time, biomedical engineers employ concepts learned from biology and medicine to generate new (biomimetic) engineering designs in fields such as robotics and artificial intelligence.
Despite the advances in medicine to date, many injuries and diseases still lead to high rates of morbidity and mortality.ÌýCurrent research in biomedical engineering at CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ focuses on innovative areas such as biomechanics, devices, imaging and therapeutics.ÌýOur goal is to create technology (drugs and devices) to treat these injuries and illnesses safely and effectively.
