As an SPS student, you can choose a Master of Divinity (MDiv), a Master of Arts in Theology (MA) degree, and a graduate certificate in Christian Studies. Each supports SPU鈥檚 vision to engage the culture and change the world with the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ.

The following degree programs are approved by the the Association of Theological Schools Commission on Accrediting Master of Divinity and Master of Arts programs:

• Divinity (MDiv)
• Master of Arts in Theology (MA)
  •  Low-Residency Option 

Certification program

• Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies (GCCS)



Dual Degrees

The following dual degree programs allow you to earn two advanced degrees in less time than it would take you to earn the same two degrees separately.

• Business and theology dual degree programs include MBA (Social and Sustainable Enterprise) / MA in Theology (Theological Integration); MBA (Social and Sustainable Enterprise) / Master of Divinity; MA in Management (Faith and Business) / MA in Theology (Theological Integration)
• Marriage and Family Therapy and theology dual degree programs include MS in Marriage and Family Therapy / MA in Theology (Theological Integration); MS in Marriage and Family Therapy / Master of Divinity.
• Master of Fine Arts and theology dual degree programs include MFA in Creative Writing / Master of Divinity; MFA in Creative Writing / MA in Theology (Theological Integration).

Professional Licensure Disclosure

Programs in the School of Theology meet the educational requirements for denominational ordination, which are not regulated by any states, due to the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The master of divinity (MDiv) degree provides the education necessary for ordination in several Christian denominations: the Free Methodist Church; the United Methodist Church; the Presbyterian Church in the USA; and others. These ordination requirements do not differ by state, only by denomination.
