Student Grants

Engaging

After receiving an award offer, students should use the acceptance form linked in their decision notice to accept the offer. Students might also need to provide their personal information for payroll processing and setup direct deposit at a later date. We recommend reviewing the information on the acceptance and payroll enrollment pages carefully and marking your calendar with the dates in the timeline.

Acceptance

The acceptance form asks students to review their information and agree to the terms and conditions of the award, which are detailed on the award acceptance page.

Payroll Enrollment

We pay student grant funding directly to recipients as stipends (using the payroll system) in one payment near the beginning of the awarded term.

1 Award Offers

UROP makes award offers in decision notices sent by email. Students should be attentive to their awarded grant term, because the timelines for these steps differ by term.

2 Award Acceptance

Students must accept or decline award offers using an online form linked in their decision notice by the deadline posted online.

3 Personal Information

Students without a CU employee identification number (EID) must submit the Personal Information (PI) form by the deadline posted online. Students without a social security number (SSN) should contact UROP.

4 Payroll Entry

UROP's payment partners in the Human Resources Service Center (HRSC) enter award information into the payroll system and enroll students without an EID (using information collected in the PI form).

5 Direct Deposit

Students without an existing EID will need to setup direct deposit during the "direct deposit window" posted online, and students with an existing EID should double-check their information at this time.

6 Payment

Student payments are issued in one lump sum based on the award timeline posted online. Students should check their accounts to ensure payment was received.

Enable Transformative Learning

UROP represents an opportunity to support student-centered education that makes the most of CU ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ’s global leadership in research and creative production. We invite you to explore, consider giving and contact us as you have questions.

Our campus has an expansive history of undergraduate engagement dating to the creation of the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) in 1986. A significant body of scholarship has emerged and continues to demonstrate the value of connecting students to the academic and creative life of the campus. With well-documented benefits from persistence and resilience to belonging and graduation, engagement can be transformative—and empowering for marginalized students. UROP is critical to ensuring equitable access for marginalized students by eliminating one of the most significant barriers to participation: funding.
