Project Topic: Research Payload Design for Suborbital Space Environment Data Collection Ìý

Description: Project Daedalus aims to design, model, manufacture, and test a suborbital payload launched from Blue Origin’s New Shepard launch vehicle. This Low-Cost Access to Space payload, consisting of a deployment mechanism and sensor suites, will be used to characterize the atmosphere at altitudes between 80km and 110km. These altitudes are often too high for high-altitude balloons yet too low for orbiting vehicles to analyze. Using the JANUS platform as an electrical and physical interface, this payload will integrate with the launch vehicle, ensure sensor suite survival during launch, and deploy the sensor suite at apogee.
